1623 University Ave, Berkeley
California, 94703
What’s the church telephone number?
510-845-7315
Does your church belong to a denomination?
Yes. We are a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC).
What are your requirements for membership?
To be a member, a person must profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and be willing to submit to the appointed authority of the church.
Do you provide childcare during worship?
No. We believe that the blessings of worship with God’s people are extended to children, no matter their age. If young children or infants need a break, we provide a room at the back of the auditorium where parents can take their children. Parents and children are able to see and hear the worship service from the room.
What is your worship service like?
Our worship is God centered. When we come together for worship as Christ commanded us, we, as a community of believers who are called by God to glorify His name, strive to have a worship service that brings glory to God’s name and reflects His holy character. We come with our hearts and minds open to instructions, corrections and to enjoy God’s holy presence.
What kind of music do you have during worship?
We sing hymns from the Trinity Hymnal, accompanied by a piano or organ. Music has a powerful impact on our worship experience. Music elevates the soul to the beauty of our worship. If music is the handmaiden of theology, our music reflects the beliefs we hold. At conversion the soul sees the loveliness and sweetness of Christ and falls in love with God. We strive to continue to enrich the music of our worship so that we fan the flames of that affection and keep calling attention to the beauty and majesty of our Holy God.
What are the requirements for partaking of the Lord’s Supper?
Our Communion service is open to those who have been, or are now, communicant members of an evangelical church. But those who are not communicant members of this congregation are asked to meet with the elders of the Church before partaking of the Lord’s Supper. It is required that they meet with the elders only once.
The Lord’s Supper is only for those who have been baptized and who have united in membership with an evangelical congregation by publicly confessing their personal faith in Jesus alone for salvation, and who continue as members in good and regular standing.
What is an evangelical congregation?
Evangelical congregations are those which receive the Bible as the very Word of God and which strive to proclaim the gospel, to administer the sacraments, and to exercise discipline in a way consistent with the Bible. Such congregations declare that fellowship with God is possible for sinners who put their trust in Jesus alone for salvation.
