Wayne Forkner, Pastor
Wayne was born and raised in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles County. When he was 20 years old, he became a christian and attended several different churches for a period of 10 years. Eventually, he joined a PCA church in Manhattan Beach, California. He received his Masters of Divinity from Westminster Seminary California in 2000 and was ordained as a Pastor in Berkeley on November 16 2001.
George MacKenzie, Elder
George was born on Sept. 30, 1925 on a farm in Nova Scotia, Canada to a Christian family. The family moved to San Francisco in 1934. He attended San Francisco Elementary and High Schools in the area, and graduated from San Francisco State University in 1949. Being raised in a Christian home, its difficult when exactly he became a Christian but made commitments around 1943-1949. George attended the First OPC in San Francisco from 1939-1983 and was ordained an elder on March 19, 1959. He served as an elder in San Francisco OPC from 1959 to 1983 then later transferred his membership to Berkeley OPC on August of that year. In 1995, George transferred his membership to Delta Oaks in Antioch. George serves as an elder to both the Berkeley and Antioch congregations since 1995.
Eric Gelston, Elder
Eric was born in Ohio and grew up in central Florida. Raised in a moderately religious Southern Baptist home Eric was baptized at the age of 10. By the age of 16 the Lord had lead him to confess faith in Christ in a PCA church. Eric’s life journey lead him to serve 3 years in the Army, attend Covenant College (History, ’97), and finally Westminster Seminary California where he received his M.A.R. in 1999. It was here that he met Tara, his wife of 11 years. Eric and Tara have been attending Covenant OPC since 2003 and have been blessed with two children, Reese and Kali. Both Eric and Tara teach at Contra Costa Christian Schools in Walnut Creek. Eric has been an elder at covenant since 2005.
David Enas, Deacon
A Scientist in the Pharmaceutical industry, Dave followed the tradition of his parents and grandparents as an active member in the Berkeley church. Dave served as a Deacon and Treasurer since 1999. Dave’s grandparents, Joseph and Helen Enas were founding members of the Berkeley Covenant Church. His grandfather served as a Deacon/Trustee and was one of the signers of the church articles of incorporation in 1945. Dave’s father, Harold J. Enas served as deacon and elder for many years. Outside of church activities he enjoys a wide variety of interests including cooking, horticulture, Cal football, and listening to an eclectic array of music. An accomplished cook, he has a reputation for preparing some of the most popular dishes for folks attending the Sunday potluck lunch. Dave’s interest in enology and viticulture has led to many productive years of winemaking at home. Dave has been married for 34 years to Linda Enas, the church organist and daughter of Rev. Richard M. Lewis.
